SIRACUSA AND ORTIGIA
Siracusa Italy Sicily
Siracusa is the cultural cradle of the Magna Grecia, so wide was its brightness that, for a long time until the Roman occupation, it was the most important 'polis' of ancient greek world.
Here was born Archimede, symbol of excellence and intellectual fervour of those times.
It's possible to find many traces of the greek Corinto colonization as the Archeologic Park, where's sitauted the famous Greek Theatre. In these amazing Teathre, every year an intenational kermesse is performed: the 'Rappresentazioni Classiche', classical comedies and tragedies of the highest authors of ancientness as Sofocle, Euripide, Eschilo...
As well as the Isle of Ortigia, with its landscape and monuments, the 'Paolo Orsi' Museum: a very important collection of greek and roman relics.
Even the hinterland, as the wonderful lanscapes of Palazzolo, the 'necropolis' of Pantalica and the coast of Siracusa are very interesting, as the beach and the little sea-village of Marzamemi, the beaches of the natural reserve of Calamosche, Porto Palo, the touristic zones of Fontane Bianche and Arenella.
